Can It Happen?

Happy New Year to everyone!  I usually start a new year full of hope and enthusiasm, but this year is different.  I awoke this morning feeling a little overwhelmed by all that's wrong with our government right now.

My dream wishes for 2013 are as follows:

  • A president and Congress who can put aside their egos and power trips to do what is best for our country.
  • A president who can get past his need for adulation.
  • A comeback for common sense and spending restraint.
  • Return of manners and respect for others.
  • Strengthening of traditional morality.
  • A revival of personal responsibility instead of passing the buck.
  • A realization among the electorate that we have an irresponsible president and an appalling lack of leadership in Congress; hopefully, this will result in voters removing many of these jokers in 2014.
  • Restoration of respect for the United States in the world.
  • Accountability and prosecution of those responsible for the fiascoes of Fast and Furious and Benghazi.
  • Last, but certainly not least, recognition and reverence for God, and restoration of Him in our public institutions.
Is there any real hope I'll get my wishes?  With God, all things are possible and I will continue to pray for our country.

The Blame Game and Ineptitude

President Obama, who, as we all know by now, is responsible for nothing, continues his assault on the "do-nothing" Congress (actually, it would be far more accurate to say "the do-nothing Senate", but I digress).  On the campaign trail, he has berated Congress for failing to act on a number of measures that Obama claims would help the economy and jobs market.

I doubt that Obama will see it this way, but to me this is indicative of the president's lack of leadership.  There have been many presidents who have had to work with a Congress dominated by the other party, but the good presidents manage to get things done anyway.  Obama's constant harping on Congress' inaction in reality highlights his ineptitude in dealing with them.  A better president would know how to work with Congress to get things done.

One Long Lecture

Is it just me, or does the Obama presidency seem like one long, tiresome lecture?  He's telling the GOP that getting their way "is not how it works".  Well, I clearly remember BO telling Republicans "I won" and "elections have consequences".

What a dung heap this administration has become!  Obama didn't mind ramming his way or the highway down the Republicans' throats before the election of 2010.  He's telling Congress that they must reach a compromise (i.e., Republicans must cave) so we can avoid a government shutdown.  We wouldn't be in this mess if the Congressional Democrats had done their job and passed a budget for 2011. I hope Republicans hang tough; if they give an inch, Obama will take a mile.

Meanwhile, the Dems trot out their shopworn scare tactics:  Republicans are out to starve old people and children and deny seniors needed medical care, and on and on ad nauseam.  These served the Dems well in the past, but like the boy who cried "wolf", fewer people will be fooled this time around.

Unpatriotic

The Obama administration and Democrats in Congress seem to believe that we, the people, have no right to question them, let alone disagree with their agenda. During the Bush years, Democrats asserted that disagreeing with the President was patriotic and laudable. Now that a Democrat occupies the White House, their view seems to have changed. If you disagree with the left wing agenda being put forth or ask legitimate questions, you're deemed to be an extremist, part of a mob, or called ugly names.

Well, the video below is just a little reminder from the mouth of our (now) secretary of state that we do indeed have not only the right, but the responsibility, to speak out when we disagree with an administration.
