I'm a day late, but I want to wish this great country of ours Happy Birthday!
The United States is truly the greatest country on the face of the earth, bar none, and I am unabashedly proud to be an American! It's disgusting to me that we have a president who seems to feel the need to constantly apologize for this country. Have we done things in the past that we should be ashamed of? Absolutely, but for the most part, we have adhered to the ideals of our forefathers. America has done more to help other countries and promote freedom than any other nation on earth and Americans are the most generous people you'll find.
We are truly unique, both in our origins and in our "can do" spirit. I fear we're losing that spirit, but I believe it still exists in the majority of Americans. Let's not lose sight of what made us great - the ideals and principles upon which this country was founded. Happy Birthday, America - and I wish you many more!
